The British Tourist Authority runs a great example of a multi-lingual website http://www.visitbritain.com/.
Several translation services for website content are available. Eg http://www.push-international.com/translation_services_wt.html and http://www.worldlingo.com/en/websites/url_translator.html.
If website architects are providing content for a multi-lingual users, it is only good sense to offer it in several languages.
