I've put a little tutorial together about coloured alt text (http://www.websitearchitecture.co.uk/storr/forumimgs/colouredalttext.html). It uses CSS attribute selectors which currently aren't supported by IE, but hopefully you'll find it useful.

Oh dear Francis - you know what I think about using code that doesn't work in IE. What's the point?

Anyway, I have devised a work round that works in IE. It's so simple. Sometimes you coders can't see the wood for the trees!

Admittedly it doesn't change the colour of the ALT TEXT, but it sets the missing image holder to WHITE, meaning the ALT TEXT is as clear as you like!

You can see it in action by visiting

Now, feel free to tell your Mozilla buddies, but please don't take the credit for it yourself. I accept donations by PayPal - ID jim.barker@freeuk.com

My lawyers are watching.

Well done James - that's a good one. And cross browser supported too.

All well and good if you want great blocks of white on your page. Me, I'll go without. But, I'll agree with David - good effort. You confused me somewhat by actually putting on an image of a broken image - I thought Moz has doing weird things
