Glad to see a new look to Amazon!

The have even included a page about their redesign:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html/202-9019558-4827854?ie=UTF8&docId=1000109113

I like the rollover effect on the home page logo link myself.

Yet to give the site a full test, mainly due to lack of funds! but am sure over time we will all have more comments on it.

Looks interesting - I heard a rumour some time ago that Amazon, the inventors of tabbed browsing (probably) were redesigning their site without tabs!

I can't actually see the new site yet - looks like they're rolling it out in stages.

It took my some time to absorb the interface for Amazon, especially in the area of purchasing, viewing my basket, checking on items I've ordered and most of all navigating the site. I hope this new iteration improves on that functionality.

Strangely, I'm still seeing the old interface. Any update on this?

Back to the old site and the info link isn't there anymore

I'm seeing the old site with a cheery christmas banner on it... I hope when the new site does go live, the 'log out' link is somewhere a bit more obvious - I know you can just close the broswer window, but I am very fond of logging out before shutting things down...

Same for me... still the old site. I guess with the speed that their business is growing they had to think of something else before they run out of space in the global navigation bar. :)

I've just come across this site http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/ and it seems to be very useful (especially for the first year students). It's a 'complete' guide to web design and it covers quite a few of the topics that we talked about last year. Also their 'recommended' page is quite useful as it gives you ideas where to get images and free fonts on the web.

Thanks for the link. It is a good site and contains a lot of very useful information. Bear in mind though, that the intention is to sell e-books. Nonetheless, excellent content.

I did not notice the Amazon re-design! They say they took advice from 'the foremost experts in the field' (ie their customers) but they DID NOT take my advice. I wrote to them a few months ago to request a clearer distinction between goods supplied by Amazon (which I like buying) and goods supplied by their other suppliers (which I don't like buying, because I would rather use eBay for this type of product).

But look at the re-design of http://www.amazon.com/ They have got rid of those terrible pop-up menu boxes. Now you just type in what you are looking for and use the drop-down list to specify a category - if you wish.

For example (!) to get a useful result for garden history, you just enter these words: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-8356919-4733416?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=garden+history&x=0&y=0

It's here! Amazon have now rolled out their new design to Amazon.co.uk - take a look. There's even an explanation of the new design - see link at top right.

Call me thick, or call me thickest, but I can't see the redesign or find the link. Too busy buying extra memory, I guess.

I may be a bit late in on this one but how horrible! I don't like this new Amazon site at all (seeing it for the first time today).

It's messy looking, the rollovers are slow and the search bar is too short and wide - I don't like this at all - I think they have sacrificed aesthetic functionality for additional selling space and I think it is a shame...
