Well, actually, it's free.

Free hosting has been around for a while now and Heart Internet (http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/freewebhosting.shtml), based in the UK have been one of the higher profile suppliers of free hosting. Why not sigh up and have a go at hosting your own site - costs nothing.

Can you see the catch?

Oh, and get your domain names (http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/domains-d.shtml) for just 9p. Gosh, how do they do that?

Aw! You spotted it!

Yes, the idea is to lure the web developer in with the promise of free hosting and then, when the website gets going, you'll be invited to move to a different hosting plan with a cost attached.

However, I recommend that anyone who has never used hosting before, sign up and have a go at getting a website online. It could be good practice for the real thing and you'll learn a lot of new stuff.
