Does anyone (language specialists in particular!) know what affect the use of accents has on searches. For example, what are the consequences of writing liberté, égalité, fraternité instead of liberte, egalite, fraternite on a web page?
With accents produced this result: Results 1 - 10 of about 1,360,000 for liberté, égalité, fraternité
Without accents produced this result: Results 1 - 10 of about 1,350,000 for liberte, egalite, fraternite
Not much difference in terms of total returns - but are they different returns and why are the numbers different?
The reason for my interest is that I plan to put some French text on the website and cannot decide if it is better to have it with or without accents (since I don't have a French keyboard, without accents would be a lot easier!)
Also note: Results 1 - 10 of about 1,770,000 for Le Notre.
But: Results 1 - 10 of about 5,160,000 for Le Nôtre
