All,

Im pretty new to this PHP, ASP and unfortunately only reading about the terms has made it probably even harder to distinguish what each is and does?

For example, if someone puts a credit-card payment form on a website is that using PHP/ASP?

And what about just contact information?

Im confused and its probably neither- Absolutely ANY help would be great.

Jason

Good question, didn't know it either and it looks like many others have asked that question before us. I've found these two articles that give an idea at least. Have a look and see if you agree...

My conclusion (and I'm not sure if I got that right) is that for our purposes php is the better choice?!?

Both ASP and PHP are server-side scripting languages, and in that respect, either would do the job. But in a normal, open-source hosting environment, PHP is the better option.

David, did your websites survive the Clook PHP5 upgrade? I had trouble with one, but it's a site in development, so not much of a problem. Glad to be "up to date" now.

My update is scheduled for Sunday morning at 6am (the quietest time on my sites) - I'll let you know.
