Google has launched a major addition to Google Trends named Trends for Web Sites. Trends for Web Sites extends Google Trends by enabling you to search for web site addresses, as opposed to just searching for trends by keyword.

Very interesting, I wasn't aware of this service.

However, the stats do not match up with my Google Analytics data. The number of daily visits are under reported by about 1,000 and the UK is the second most visiting country, not India (not even close!)

Am I missing something? I can see the trend graph but no figures for visitor numbers.

Judging by this comparison, James' figures are an under estimate:

Very interesting how close the two graphs are - why would that be?

You have to be logged in with a Google account to see the numbers.

I have a hunch the figures are reporting clicks from Google searches only, and are not reporting other website referrals or direct access. This might explain the under-reporting and geo location data being wrong.

That long dip in my figures tallies with the time all my pictures went missing from google images (an unexpected side effect of my relaunch!), lesson learned for next time.

I am hoping that I can use this to tap into the thoughts of web users who are searching the sites of my competitors.
