All,

Ive been analysis the stats for visitors and page ranking for my MCK Couriers site. And through June when i launched the site online, the visits and ranking were going up at a considerable rate. However throughout July the page rank has slipped down massivley and also there are very few visitors. Why is that?

Is it to do with the content not changing very much or is my SEO for the site not good??

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And advice on how to improve this is extremely welcome.

Jason

When you launched the site did you use the website domain to visit the pages to check if they were working ok? Maybe some of the visits are your own?

What sort of number visits are we talking about?

Are you using Google Analytics?

Jason,

I just tried to look at your site but I can't access it. Are you having hosting problems? Does that explain the drop in visits and rank?

Who is your host? What is your uptime percentage?

Later: OK, after about 10 mins of trying, the site came up but images still seem a little slow to load.

In addition to Google Analytics and the server based stats (AWStats) I use Alexa (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/cadtutor.net) and Quantcast (http://www.quantcast.com/cadtutor.net) but there are others like SnapShot (http://siteanalytics.compete.com/cadtutor.net/). I also keep a close eye on Website Grader (http://www.websitegrader.com/wsgid/1356177/default.aspx).

I bought a copy of Mint (http://www.haveamint.com) recently (only £15).

You can see incoming traffic in real time, it's a nice little time waster watching the hits come in.

Does Mint just use the server log files for this or does it collect/store its own data?

Its own data, rather like Google Analytics. There is a small javascript call in every page.

The page loads fine on my computer too. but will check the image sizes and reduce them to make sure. This i dont think is the problem. Its actually getting the link to come up in google as high/much as i would like. I have keywords, sitemap, what i assume to be a good content website with everything done correctly so am a little frustrated at the moment.

Im only using google at the moment but will take your advice and use the others mentioned.

I can imagine too that alot of the hits were my own. But there are hits coming from all over the country so people are seeing it. Even had two companies book jobs with my dad through the site- so it is working, but just not at the rate i expected.

My main aim is to have the keywords entered into Google come up with a higher ranking in the google search... any other tips or would registering with other search engines to the job? I read that the more links you have from other good sites help but cant think of how to go about doing that for my specific site.

Will Adwords eventually affect google ranking, if they work well?
