it's about time....

Macromedia to test Linux Support (http://news.com.com/2100-7344_3-5170061.html?tag=nefd_top)

though, to be honest, one of my gripes against Linux - and this is going to sound really petty - is that it just doesn't look as good as OSX, XP, etc. I've tried loads of different windows managers but they always seem so much more clunky. Is this because Linux is made by nerds who care less for design?

Here comes the flood.

If MM do this, by default Adobe will have to follow. Then the plugin manufacturers will have to fall in behind them.

This is opening up a whole new market, one where companies like MM and Adobe can make a whole load more money. I wonder how worried Gates is now?

But using WINE is not such a big step. There are already a number of crossover applications out there (http://www.codeweavers.com/) that can be used to run MS Office and Photoshop on LINUX in Windows emulations. That doesn't seem to have had much impact on the market.

Native support for LINUX is a whole other thing and would be a big commitment for MM. If it happens, that could change the planet.

Yep, you're right. I was getting a bit carried away with myself. Is WINE meant to be any good? I thought it was a bit buggy?
