Since taking an interest in Adsense, I have noticed that Ebay is making extraordinary use of the system. I entered the terms water+garden and up came an advert from Ebay. Following the link did not, alas, take me to auctions for large areas of wetland, primula and gunnera (books and junk instead).
You have to hover your mouse over the Adsense Adverts (known as AAs in the trade) but you will find them cropping up in response to a vast number of searches. In fact they must have a keyword generation system helping them to bid on every word combination: they are bombing the system - and they are far too canny to be doing it without calculating the Return on Investment (known as ROI in the trade). It shows how important Google visibility has become in Ebay's quest to become Market Place to the known world.
A gratifying aspect of this is that David and I are siphoning off a few driplets of Ebay's wealth. In fact we have probably gained a few zillionth's of a cent from James music buying and selling. Thanks to you James! Would 10% of this income be a fair reward?
[Extra Note: what I actually typed in was WATER GARDEM. So do you think Ebay bid on GARDEM or did Google make the substitution with its spelling-correction system?]
