Hi,

I'm thinking of using clicky.com on my website, has anyone tried it?

I have been using Mint, which is similar, but I've kind of lost interest in it and just use Analytics now. The Mint interface is rather boring and the data is captures is limited.

Clicky looks really good and I am tempted to try it. Is it free do you know?

 Am I missing something? It looks like a site for sending and storing photos.

Oops -sorry for postying wrong link!

It isn't free - well the basic one is - it's $5-10 a month, not a kings ransom though. And if you pay for a whole year it is half price.

How have you found analytics? I am beginning to feel a bit uncomfortable with Google's ubiquity, I'm sure I'm not the only one, but maybe I'm being unecessarily anxious?

Well Google know everything about my site as I use Analytics and AdSense. They make me money. So I'm quite comfortable!

Same here. Is there anything that Clicky can do for you that your own server stats won't do. The main reason I use Analytics is that I can see traffic trends more easily. AWStats gives me plenty of detail on a month-by-month basis but Analytics gives a better overview. What stats package do you have on your server?

The stats on my server aren't great, quite a lot of info in there but presented in a not very user friendly way, I guess I could install a different package there. Also because of my Joomla I have to do some funky thing with the .htaccess file which I am steeling myself to do.

I think I may just stick with Google, I have it running on my blog but find that it shows me much lower stats than my Wordpress stats package does - still useful for trending etc.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Some other ideas (http://5thirtyone.com/archives/2126) on stats and feedback.

You're right about the Analytics underestimate. It consistently gives lower numbers than AWStats. I suspect that it may not count spiders etc. or possibly visitors from hosts that cannot be resolved whereas AWStats logs everything.
