There is much to be gained from this forum if it has a flow of new material, but it can easily become a wasted opportunity if it is not used.

I definitely recommend the searchengineland.com site (I get the daily newsletters emailed to me) if you have an interest in SEO. I have benefitted for numerous hints and tips from them.

Maybe the new class should introduce themselves to the board and a bit about their background?
