A quick look at MetaFilter gives this (http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/31429). And, more importantly, a link to this (http://www.hact.org/stories/news/hact20040225.html). But on the bottom of the page on that last link it says "The HACT team produces humor and opinion articles, not official news. Any resemblance to actual news is just a matter of style.". But it links to this (http://www.firstmonday.dk/issues/issue8_6/adamic/). The Google affilite things confuses me, unless it's a joke. But maybe it isn't (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/02/05/google_revives_discredited_microsoft_privacy/) - who knows?
Who knows if it still actually runs? If it does, it's probably very US-centric anyway. And, also, aren't you two attached? It's me that needs something like this - it's getting depressing being a single billynomates these days.

I didn't interpret it as a dating site, it looks like a place to meet like minded souls who share interests.
Hopefully our masters projects will get similar global coverage!

Would you really want to be a member of a club with a home page that looks like that - no thanks.
There was a lot of hype about this site a few months ago and it's all gone very quiet since. My guess is that most people don't care enough about it or that the original geeks who set it up just don't have enough mates to get it going.
We'll probably never know. One thing's for sure, if it becomes a great success, it will be good NOT to be a member.
