Does anyone know of good examples of good-looking websites using Wikimedia software but NOT looking like Wikipedia and NOT owned/run by the Wikimedia Foundation?

THAT is a very good question. I haven't come across one, but then again, I haven't looked for one.

It's an open source software, which we can use to publish any content and apply whatever license we want to the content.
most open source licenses (http://www.webmasterworld.com/redirect.cgi?f=44&d=3553612&url=http://www.opensource.org/licenses/category) allow us to use, misuse and abuse the software as we wish.
Iit is when we transfer the use of that sofware and/or its derivatives to another person or agency that we have to pay attention to the details... ...Am I ritght?

With open source software, you are free to use it but you can only distribute it under the terms of the original licnese (ie you can't sell it).
