I have been reading Murakami's books recently and, wanting to know more about him, did the obvious thing: went to Wikpedia and then to his 'official website'. I thought the website was a Japanese web design, which it may be, until I noticed the domain name.

The design is undoubtedly modern and undoubtedly Japanese - to my eye much more 'Japanese' than the Muji website http://www.muji.com/xmas2009/en/
It is a curious thing that web design seems to be developing more national characteristics than architectural design or furniture design.
PS If you want a good read for Christmas, try the most popular modern novel in East Asia: Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood.
