Hi there

I am about to buy my domain for my thesis (gettinglippy.co.uk shall come to life!) but will make sure I get a multiple domain option so I can also have my portfolio website on there.

However, when it comes to domain name, what is a good way to go? I think as I am the brand, its good to go with my own name, but will the tricky spelling of my name be at my cost?

I am thinking www.kerri-anneelliswebdesign.co.uk but is it worth getting a .com?

My friend (a web designer recruitment consultant) sent me this example http://www.beckycoyledesigns.com (http://www.beckycoyledesigns.com/) and although I know its not all dependent on the domain name, I want to get it right!

I would keep it simple. Why do you need the "webdesign" bit? My feeling is that key words in domain names have a relatively low priority when it comes to indexing. Many brand names do not indicate what a company does. How often have you seen the Apple site come up in searches for fruit and veg?

So, maybe just kerri-anneellis.co.uk or even kerri-anne.info. Also, think about the future. Will you always be a web designer? Will you keep your maiden name if you marry?

I would go for the simplest, easiest to remember.

Fab, I will just stick to my name, that makes sense as in 25 years its done me well.

And for fear of starting a feminist rant, lets just say the surname stays forever :)

Thank you, www.kerri-anneellis.co.uk is a go! (Unfortunately an Irish popstar had my name spelling so I think the surname would push me away from that!)
