This excellent series started last Saturday but you can catch up on iplayer.

In episode 1 of The Virtual Revolution, Dr. Aleks Krotoski meets some of the biggest names of the web, including Jimmy Wales, Arianna Huffington, YouTube CEO Chad Hurley, and the inventor of the web himself, Tim Berners Lee.

The first episode was a fascinating history of how it all started.

I was disappointed in the first half of today's episode. But the discussion of China was good and one point was outstanding: the web is making a contribution to the dissolution of the nation state. Good thing too! I'm not a member, but I like the idea of Facebook being the world's third largest country (350m) and of Paypal providing a world bank and a world currency and of Wiki + Googlebooks as the world's leading reference library.
