Tomorrow night, on Channel 5, there is a documentary about the sex.com domain. Apparently it was stolen from its original owner (who claimed he was going to use it for a sex education site), and turned into a porno portal. The new "owner" became very rich.

If you can manage to see beyond the obvious TITillation of the subject, it is a documentary that covers a lot of stuff we have learned, particularly on Tom's course - theft of intellectual property, the power of a good domain name, and making a fortune from the web.

Apparently the programme will be quite explicit, so don't watch if easily offended! :">

Was it a good programme?

I had a press ticket for the Chelsea Flower Show and was too tired to switch on a machine. This reminds me of 2 minor 'revenue streams' to a website publisher. A Chelsea ticket costs £25 and if you go on a public day its so crowded you can only walk round at about 9 hours per kilometer. I also get sent some free copies of books to review. David, have you thought of asking for copies of newly published CAD books to review?

And here's a surprise. I came back from Chelsea and wrote a review of the gardens. This morning, on which day the show opens, I had a whim to see if anyone else had reviewed the gardens. So I entered the following terms in Google without quotation marks:

chelsea flower show garden design

- and my review came at the top of the second page of Google returns! The likely explanation is that Google does a high-priority search & index on pages with adsense. Googlebots just love the stuff! Its like nectar for bees.

I only saw half of it, the second half, as I fell asleep before it started, and like all porn, it was difficult to understand the plot!

What I did see was just an excuse for Channel 5 to show soft porn clips, with the good bits pixelated out.

Poor.

Wow - you find it difficult to follow the plot in porn? From what I understand (ah-hem), the plots in those things are really easy to follow.

Excuse me, have you got the time?
Certainly, but I'll only give it to you if I can, er, give it to you
