Via Zeldman's sidebar. One really has to ask what the hell Barclays were thinking (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/07/13/barclaycard_mac_mystery/) when they made that decision.
More customer unfriendly companies (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/10/25/alternative_browser_villains_named/) alre also listed in another document.

I wonder how many of those banks actually made the decision to not support non-IE browsers, or have they had it imposed upon them by ignorant web design agencies? (who should know better).
Surely the extra cost to make sites cross-browser compatible is negligible? I mean, Mozilla may have a tiny market share, but multiply their 5% share over the millions of customers that the main high street banks have, and you can see they are annoying thousands of customers.
Whenever I decide who to bank with / have a credit card with etc the main factor affecting my decision is their ability to provide online banking.
I have had my current account with Alliance and Leicester since 1997 and it's only in the last year that they have provided internet banking. I was on the verge of quitting when they finally launched internet banking - just in time.
I love internet banking - no more queueing in branches, no more sickly-polite call centre operators.
More fool those banks who don't provide internet banking for ALL their customers.

And in Barclays' case, not just non-IE browsers, but Macs as well! I wonder if IE's market share will continue to drop? One percent is, all things considered, a large amount of people, but probably not enough to worry MS just yet.

I think this is just Barcalycard - not Barclays. I connect to my Barclays bank account on Mac with no problem.
As for the browser incompatibility thing - you'd think they'd be encouraging the use of non IE browsers seeing as IE is so prone to the security vulnerabilities.
