Hi all - I went to order PHP Solutions from Amazon this morning and I noticed there's a second edition coming out at the end of next week. Just thought I'd let you know! I wish it had come out this week, it would have been a lot more convenient.

Nice one for spotting that Tom, and posting it to the forum. I used the iPhone barcode scanner on the book yesterday to capture it in my Amazon wishlist to order today which obviously side-stepped that new version. Really lucky you spotted that as I wouldn't have done otherwise!

Thanks for spotting that Tom. Rather expensive at twice the price of the 1st edition. I expect the price will drop after publication if you can wait. Note that the book is based on PHP 5.2 and MySQL 4.1 or later. Our server is currently running PHP 5.2.12 and MySQL 5.0.91, so all the scripts in the new book should work just fine.

No problem - I'm going to order the new version, although as you say David it is twice the price! I'm really keen to get hold of a copy so I don't think I'll have the patience to wait for the price drop. Hopefully there'll be enough new material in there to make it worth it.

Thanks Tom, let us know how it is! The book is really good, I started reading it today, its explanations are really succinct and easy to follow. Might consider purchasing the new version when the price drops :)

Will do! I'll bring it in once it arrives.

Tom, I just placed my order with Amazon for £22.75, 25p higher than yesterday :( but around £12 lower than it was last week :).

I've noticed this trend at Amazon with other books. A price is stated during pre-release with a guarantee that it won't go up and then about a week after release, the price drops considerably.

Thanks David - unfortunately I already bought it for £33! I didn't know that about Amazon but I'll remember for next time.
