In the Further Reading section, he cites Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud. I've seen this book cited many times recently but have never read it - has anyone read this book?

Finally got round to reading this - very interesting article. I particularly liked the caption to the final illustration: 'As web designers, we should think about systems, not pages.'
