Excellent article Will, thanks for posting. I must admit, I came to the conclusion a while ago that it is better to either use themes from WordPress or to pay a small fee. There are some excellent themes out there at reasonable cost and they usually include support too. Take a look at the Theme Foundry (http://thethemefoundry.com/) for example.
