Try A9 (http://a9.com/) instead:

1) the search results are provided by Google
2) additional info is supplied by Amazon (who own Alexa, of which A9 is a derivative)
3) you get image results as well as search results, and in place of Adwords. Sometimes the images are great (eg a search on Sissinghurst (http://a9.com/sissinghurst) ) and sometimes they are bizzare (eg a search on University of Greenwich (http://a9.com/university%20of%20greenwich) and sometimes they are saucy (eg a search on Sunbathing (http://a9.com/sunbathing). But all this is better than endless adverts
4) because Google must be losing out on Adwords income, from A9 users, one assumes that more Adsense income goes to those websites (I know a couple) which include Adense
5) the Site Info button on search returns provides excellent info for those interested in SEO. There is no harm in taking an interest in such stats every time one does a search.
6) The Site Info has much better link info that available from Google's link:operator. It appears to be ranked with the more important (ie high PageRank) links coming at the top of the list. Note that you need to login (with an Amazon.com account) to get this info.
7) You also get interesting info on speed (eg my site is 'fast' and David's is 'very slow'! )
8) One also gets food for thought. My quarterly search on garden history (http://a9.com/garden%20history) reveals that Gardenvisit.com has slipped from 3rd to 5th position (and my traffic is down). The puzzling thing is that all the sites above me have fewer links and much less traffic.

I have not changed to an A9 toolbar yet - but I'm thinking about it.
