Hi all,
In which industry does Web Design belongs?
"Oh, bro, this question came into my mind many times"
For example, today I tried to sign up for Linkedin but I couldn't decide what best describes our profession.
Those are some of the choices that match most, but which one is the right one?
Architecture and Planning
Information Services
Information Technology and Services
Online Media
That's it as far as Linkedin is concerned.
In other sites such as 'The Careers Group" there were several other categories:
IT & Telecoms
Creative arts and design
Media Technology
Multimedia Technology
Visual Communication
Mathematical and Computer Sciences
Computer Science and Web Technologies
Information and Communication Technologies
Intelligent Web Technologies
Internet Computing
Internet Engineering (that's for servers' maintenance i think)
Mass Communication and Documentation
Communication and Media Studies
Electronic Publishing
Information and Communication Technology in business environment
Information Sevices
Interactive Publishing
Wel, as you can understand it can be confusing. Some of choices are silly, for example 'Media Technology' or 'Electronic Publishing'. However, I added them just to show you how confusing and tiresome it can be.
Couldn't they have a general category called Web Site Technologies and then some subcategories such as Front End Developer, Back End Developer etc?
If you could help me clear this confusion out, I would be grateful.
