Do any of you know of Gilbert Gil? There is a great article about him in this month's Wired. He is a musician and the Minister of Culture in Brazil - and Richard Stallman persuaded him to declare a national policy of (1) using Open Source software (2) using the Creative Commons (http://creativecommons.org/) license for music. He then declared that Microsoft were using 'drug dealer practices' to push their software. Bill tried to sue him and then gave up. Another Brazillian government minister commented that 'Every license for Office plus Windows in Brazil - a country in which 22 million people are starving - means we have to export 60 sacks of soybeans". So Brazil has a National IT Policy, summarized as ''Linux roolz'. When a whole country turns against Microsoft ..... (I love it!).
