They have used some terribly poor JPGs on their front page - look at those rough artefacts round the lettering. There really is no excuse for this. The lettering should be a GIF at least, and the JPGs could be improved without making filesize too big.

It gets worse, most of the products do not have photos or descriptions, that's if you can find how to search the stock in the first place. Internet business is clearly not a priority for this company.

Wow, you're right. The JPEG images are such a basic mistake. GIF's would have looked much better and would have been smaller.

It really makes you wonder how "Web Designers" get away with it. Or maybe it was just one of the cashiers with time to spare :D

...on the other hand, is this just us being ultra picky? Does the general public actually notice this sort of thing and if so, do they even care?

It's the cashier :)

Do the public care about this? Well, I suppose we are the general public, although in the minority in that we spend an awful lot of time looking at the web.

On the other hand, those images are atrocious. They've used DW and FW for code and images, but sum fule has decided they know better than DW about where to put JavaScript.

The use of colour is appalling. There's nothing like enough contrast on some of the links, the DIY and Insurance pages are both created using one vile image map. The site navigation is appalling. I'd love to know how much they paid for that.

It's worse than the site for Vanish (http://www.vanish.co.uk/) that I was looking at last week. Their "our products" section is truly a useful store of information...
