That problem you mentioned yesterday where clciking on a link in IE results in just getting a blank page. I said I'd seen this before because someone at work had the same problem - I've looked it up again on Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&client=mozilla&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aunofficial&q=ie6+links+%22blank+screen%22&btnG=Search) (don't forget what I said - it's really unlikely that you're going to be the only person on the planet with that problem) and here's the fix (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=281679) (scroll down to 'resolution' heading). This fix worked perfectly for my colleague, so if you've got the same problem, this should do it.
When you said you've got Norton but 'it's no good' - you do realise you've got to keep it up to date? You need to be using Live Update to download the latest virus definitions and, if your subscription is out of date, buy a new one (it's about £10 a year)? If you're not keeping Norton up to date, then it's not going to catch any new viruses (look at the guesstimated amount of new viruses that are created every month that you won't be protected against (http://www.google.com/search?q=*+%22new+viruses+a+month%22&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=mozilla&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:unofficial)). Norton is a really good anti-virus solution. And, you really need a firewall - especially if you're on broadband. The amount of people that could be installing malicious software on your PC each time you're online is scary - and you currently have no idea what's on your machine. Get a new copy of Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Firewall on your Christmas list (although if your PC is more than 4 or 5 years old, Anti-Virus 2005 will slow it to an absolute crawl).
Of course, you could always try using Firefox instead of IE (5.6 million people have downloaded it in 2 weeks), it's a rather fine piece of free software. You'll have to get your own FTP software though as it doesn't work as an FTP client.
