Help please: I can't find them! The Mozilla help page gives this advice (http://www.mozilla.org/start/1.5/faq/mail-news.html#export) but I have tried seaches on inbox, mail, mbox, *.msf , several of my email subjects and folder names - and I can't find anything. So I can't backup or export my Thunderbird mail. Why does email storage have to be so difficult? I thought Outlook was bad enough with its .pst files.

That's not going to be much help - that's the help files for the Mozilla browser (Mozilla differs from Firefox in that it's a suite of programs including its own email app)!
To get to the TB help site, in TB just go to Help > Mozilla Thunderbird help (or just go here (http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/)).
To get to what you're looking for, as far as I can see, go to: Tools > Account settings > Server Settings. At the bottom of that panel, there's a local URL for what looks to be the pop3 storage on your hard drive.

Thanks very much.
I rekon you could get a good income from a site offering help to a category of computer users.
I'll try to get you all copies of an interesting article about Google in this month's Fortune magazine. It starts with a story about a 19 year old who produced a site with info about mobile phones Mobile Tracker (http://www.mobiletracker.net/). His income is $5,000/month.

$5k a month?! Mutters...
Tom - is there any chance you could copy the Wired article you though would be good for my thesis project at the same time? I searched my local newsagents and none of them had it.

Hi Tom
Thunderbird 1.0 has just been released (http://www.mozilla.org/press/mozilla-2004-12-7.html) for your installation pleasure. Thanks for the Wired stuff - I'll pick it up tomorrow.

I've installed it (thank you) but have not noticed a difference (yet).
