Babble (http://www.babble.net/portal/index.php) is a new piece of VOIP software, similar (though not as polished as) Skype that is free "to call fixed line numbers in the UK, USA Mainland, Australia, New Zealand and Europe".
I've loaded it up and it does work. No credit card details needed to be put in either. Can't find any catches so far, but there's got to be one. It says it's not allowed for commercial calls but I can't see that stopping the evening telesales worker types.
Frankly, I can't see it lasting on this (non-existing) pricing structure, but if you want to get a load of free calls in to your aunt in Australia, now's the time.
