Wow. Google has put on line the last 20 years of Usenet archives (http://www.google.com/googlegroups/archive_announce_20.html). That would be 800 million messages. Check out the page for things like the first mention of MTV, the first mention of Microsoft, the first mention of mass spamming, the first mention of Google, Friends, New Coke, the first mention of a CD and more.
