I usually find float tutorials cover the basics but not the nitty gritty, really annoying stuff. This one is good on the former but ignores the latter. Still, it is a good introduction to a tricky subjeect. Here's another couple of CSS resources:

PositionIsEverything.net (http://www.positioniseverything.net/), which is maintained by "Big John" who is active on several CSS mailing lists. This site documents loads of browser bugs and workarounds as well as providing some nice layout examples.

The CSS-discuss Wiki (http://css-discuss.incutio.com/). No idea what a Wiki is? If you've got no idea what a Wiki is, their Wiki guide will tell you more (http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=WikiGuide). This is the companion site to the CSS-discuss mailing list as set up by Eric Meyer.
