Well, it's eventually happened. Apple have admitted that the G series processors are just not fast enough and will be phasing in Intel processors from next year. See this news item (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/06/06/apple_intel_love/) for a taster. Hey, now we can all have Macs - AutoCAD on OSX! :geek:

yeah, seems Apple got fed up waiting for the G5 to go up to 3Ghz and cool down enough for the Powerbooks. An interesting point I read is that Apple have had a secret "standby" version of OSX that runs on Intel for a few years now.

Semi-alarming that software you will be buying next year for OSX-Intel won't run natively on OSX-PowePC. There's that Rosetta emulation mode thing but we all know these things never run as fast as native.
