Wikimedia Commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) looks as though it is shaping up to be a really useful resource. There is an amazing range of high quality free images (watch out James) and other stuff. I'm not quite sure how they manage to police the quality of all this material - and I haven't checked all of it - but it looks great.

A very useful link, thank you. The potential is great. I looked for images of a couple of subjects which interest me (Iran and India) and found few images, badly taken and with inaccurate captions. But think what might be availabe in 10 years time!
