I've just set up my Google personalized homepage. I think it's going to be useful but we'll see. Since I use Google as my default homepage anyway, it seemed daft not to use it. I particularly like the way I can have all my most used links (like the one to this forum) displayed on the page.

Purists may feel that Google should stick to searching rather than moving to portals but the idea of maintaining their minimist approach and applying it to portals is attractive and the fact that it is entirely configurable - don't get crap you don't need is a good one. Maybe they feel that they can do to portals what they did to search engines just a few years ago.

I liked that until I discovered Netvibes (http://www.netvibes.com) - full of Ajax-y goodness. It's much better as you can see the contents of the post without having the visit the site. Now I find the gooogle personalised homepage slow and clunky.
