I didn't think sites like that existed any more but it's kind of nice knowing that they still do. The web is becoming a little too neat and tidy for my liking. It's good to know that there is still room for the gifted (and not so gifted) amateur. "More power to them", I say. Yes we can be critical but I reckon this type of site is one of an endangered species. Appreciate it now before it gets a makeover. :D

This post reminds me of last week's "oooh let's talk about this" web standards thing: that true web professionals never stop learning. This site might get a makeover and might look pretty, but what about accessibility, graceful degredation, security, SEO etc etc. This is where we need to keep ourselves ahead of the pack and not get lazy. What use is an MA if you don't build on the learning and experience gained? The information will soon be out of date and we'll be back there with the rest of them.

In some respects you are right Francis but do you favour an over-regulated web where all websites must be accessible over a more liberal web where anything goes? Obviously, government websites should be accessible but I'm a bit worried that the web police may become too strong a loby and that may be the end of poorly designed amateur sites - the web will be poorer for it.
