Got a USB memory stick? Want to use a different application than is on offer somewhere? Looks like you could do with a Portable App (http://portableapps.com/).
There's a whole range of free software to download and use - software that's normally installed on the desktop, but has been modified to run on a USB stick. Apps include Firefox (even 2 RC3), Thunderbird, the Open Office suite, FileZilla, GIMP (graphics app), Nvu (web editor), an entire packaged install of Apache, MySQL, PHP and PHPMyAdmin (!!), media players and more.
This has made me go out and buy a memory stick for the first time.
