....those little icons that appear in the address bar next to the domain name?

They seem to appear on some of the larger sites I use and I am trying to find an online tutorial but have no idea what to search for!!

They're called favicons.

Having found a site that creates them for you for free, I now have my favicon but having some trouble getting it to work.

The instructions are:

To add this favicon to your web page:

Click "Download FavIcon" and open the package. favicon.ico is included in it.
Upload the favicon.ico file to the folder on your web site where you have the web page.
Add the following HTML tag to your web page after the <head> tag, before the </head> tag:<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" >


I am assuming that the code is html and not xhtml which is what the site is coded in.

It might be something really simple but having a brain freeze!

right it works in firefox having added in the /> at the end

it is IE7 which does not display it, funny that!
