During a recent trip (http://flickr.com/photos/mezzoblue/sets/72157594370753180/) to Moorish-tinged southern Spain, I re-discovered the beautiful calligraphy of Arabic type.

Turns out there's a resurgent interest in typography by Iranian designers, and some incredible work is coming out of that country. "Iranian Typography Now" (http://www.pingmag.jp/2006/12/11/iranian-typography-now/) is one of the best articles I've seen from PingMag recently, and it covers a lot of ground. It's really worth a look.
