Thread: Submitting your site to Google

Default Submitting your site to Google

I have just submitted my test site on Google and verified etc etc but now it has analysed my content and is telling me I am missing the title tag for the index page.

Really confused as it is there!

    Any ideas?

www.jimbuddy.com (please ignore the layout etc - at the moment it is just the words that really count)

The <title> tag is certainly there. I wonder if it's because you have it above the verification code in the source? Maybe try moving it underneath, ie

    Code:
    <meta name="verify-v1" content="YPk8KEo0T49rDFdwZrJTZJjvQYGc18cun3ve1xzcp5I=" />
<title>jimbuddy.com - find your gym buddy with jim!</title>
I also noticed your Google Analytics tracking code is in the wrong place - it should be at the bottom of the code, immediately before the closing </body>.

I really like the Amazon integration, hadn't realised it could be integrated like that.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks James

Will move the Google Analytics - confused as that is where they showed it should be!

The Amazon thing is causing a few problems as had to set the css to cope with the most expanded menu - can't figure out what I need to do in order to make the height of the div expand with the menu??

Forgot to ask is there a reason why you say the Google code has to be there? it is working fine in terms of returning results.

Google recommends the code goes at the bottom of the page (you will see this instruction in your Analytics account info, where you pasted the code from).

You're right, it will work at the top, but I think they recommend it goes at the bottom to ensure that your page content loads first, before it contacts the Analytics server. If the Analytics server is going slow it could affect the page load time if the code is at the top.

Your website idea looks very interesting, I look forward to seeing it develop.

(By the way, suggest you post in the private thesis project area rather than this section)

Google is still saying I have a title tag missing for the "/" page - I am assuming this is the index page it is referring to
