    Default My backup site

I am working on a website for a friend and constructive comments would be welcome.

If things don't work out with my staffroomsecrets idea, I might have to fall back on this one.

    Hi Philip

A beautiful start to the site, the black and white is classical but elegant and some stunning pictures have been used.

I have one main concern, the main font for 'light through a lens'. On my computer it looks dangerously like comic sans in italics. For such an elegant site a serif title font would look stunning and probably no need to italics. This would help it stay eye catching, without being distracting.

Also, on my work computer which has a large screen the layout is drifting slightly to the left. Would a liquid layout work here? The images could be made 100% so that they expand and detract with their parent element.

Also, I quite like that the navigation isn't in the traditional place, its nice to play with the idea, but I had to scroll to find it and didn't realise it had navigation for some time, again, would it be worth making the height liquid?

HOWEVER, I want to make it clear that these things are minor compared to the general beautiful work you have done. Fabulous darling!

    Hey Phillip,

I love the design... stylish and classic... exactly what he/she needs for their audience.

    - I would consider making the body copy font a little smaller. On my 24" mac it looks too big and clumsy.
    - Also, I agree with Kerrie-ann. Perhaps pick a nicer more stylish font for the title. Use an image for the type if you cant find a web safe font which suits!
    - The page also jumps from left to centre on the contact page... perhaps try and keep it consistent.

Ps. Is that Jquery in action...??? LOVE IT!!!

I think that this is a great back-up project!

The issues are more fundamental - At present the website is rather harsh and does not seem to feature the images as the primary element on the page - the text is over powering in my view.

The colour choice is a little too primary I wonder if grey would work better or perhaps white to focus the user on the image.

Although the site seems to be aimed at the 'wedding' type market I wonder if such a folksy image of the photographers conveys the image that a prospective user would expect? The image of the babies looked very stylish and artistic where as currently the site does in my view not deliver this high end feel.

A quick google search threw up this example www.stevenbrooksphotographer.co.uk ( this was the first and only one I looked at) again of a wedding photographer, although the site suffers from many shortcomings the design and images look high-end which may well be what a prospective bride is looking for during the engagement of someone to capture that most important of days. They want to look better than they normally do which is a feeling that this site captures rather well.
