Thread: Prototype and help!

I really like it David. When you first started this topic I didn't like the new site (which might have been just down to lack of "real" content), but as it's developed it's now looking much more pleasing.

My only slight niggle is the behaviour of the text when you try and highlight it. In both IE and Firefox it "shimmers" but it's not exactly a major problem.

When do you plan to launch?

It will be interesting to see if your SEO improves as a direct result of the valid code. Certainly the content DIV being read first by the spider should help.

Weird! I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. I have no idea why it does that. It seems to highlight the entire content when the cursor runs in the space between lines.

Oh, danm - that's going to haunt me now. Bound to be a simple CSS fix (I guess).

I don't have a launch date yet but now that I've frozen the design I should be able to crack on with the conversion. I have a lot of work to do because the existing site has over 100 static pages. I then need to skin the magazine and the forum and provide some magazine content to get it going. I also need to organise all my links and download material...

My guess is sometime in January 2006 if all goes well. That would be quite nice because 2006 is the 10th annaversary of my first AutoCAD tutorials on the web. Most likely I'll phase in the changes, starting with a conversion of all the static content. It all seems a bit daunting at the moment.
