Programme details
The MA Web Design and Content Planning programme (formerly known as MA Website Architecture) is run by the Department of Design Futures within the School of Architecture, Design and Construction at the University of Greenwich. Over the years, the School has gained an enviable reputation for the way in which digital design has been integrated into traditional design programmes such as Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Recently, the School has sought to capitalise on this expertise by developing entirely new digital design programmes such as those in 3D-Digital Design, and Graphic and Digital Design. Many of these programmes already include courses in web design and the MA Web Design and Content Planning programme is a natural development of the School's digital design portfolio into this exciting new area.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the programme are relatively straightforward. We require a good honours degree (usually 2:1 or higher) or an equivalent professional qualification or equivalent professional experience. An English language qualification such as IELTS (at 6.5 or higher) is required if English is not the first language.
In addition to the above requirements, we place a great deal of weight on the personal statement when selecting students. Please ensure that you provide a comprehensive personal statement when making your application.
Attendance and Term Dates
The programme is run in two ‘modes’; full-time and part-time. The full-time mode requires one day of attendance per week for one year and the part-time mode requires one half day of attendance per week for two years. The programme is taught on a ‘blended’ basis. This means that the duration of attendance is less than on traditionally taught programmes. Face-to-face teaching is supplemented by on-line discussions and students will be expected to dedicate additional time for this type of activity and for project work. This particular teaching/learning method has been developed to appeal to those students in full-time employment.
The part-time mode is recommended for all students in full-time employment or those with little or no existing experience in web design. The full-time mode should only be considered by students who are able to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours per week (in addition to attendance) to the programme.
Currently, the day of attendance is Wednesday. Term dates are published on the University website but teaching usually starts in the last week of September each year with an induction day in the week before teaching begins. All students must attend the induction day. Term 1 runs through to mid-December (no half-term). Term 2 teaching begins in the second week of January and runs through to mid-May with a 3-week break over the Easter period. During the summer, students continue to work on their Web Thesis Project and submit in the first week of October.
Location
All teaching for this programme takes place at the Mansion Site of the Avery Hill campus, in Eltham, south-east London with some additional activities arranged online.

Tuition fees
Fees for this programme are at the University standard rates. For the 2012-2013 session, home and EU students pay £7,000 for the full-time mode and £1,165 per 30 credits for the part-time mode (80 credits in year 1 and 100 credits in year 2). International students (outside the EU) pay £10,650 for the full-time mode (part-time mode is not available to international students).

Equivalent or Lower Qualifications (ELQs)
Home and EU students who already hold an equivalent level qualification (in this case, a masters degree) will be charged at a higher rate. Please see the ELQ information page for more details.

Both full-time and part-time modes are now available and the programme begins in the last week of September. Applications can be made at any time but we recommend that prospective students contact us as early as possible because places are limited. Applications made later than mid-August are unlikely to be processed in time for the start of the programme.
Note: There is no January entry point for this programme.
